An electrophoretic display (10) includes a plurality of groups of intersecting row (Xl...Xn) and column (Yl...Yn) electrodes and a, plurality of parallel anode electrode segments (Zl...Zn) disposed in spaced relation within a fluid-tight envelope containing a suspension of pigment particles (22) in a dielectric fluid (24).
