An H2S-containing gas and a free-oxygen-containing gas in amounts such that the molar ratio of O2 to H2S is from 0.5 to 3 are contacted at a temperature below 200 DEG C, with a catalyst for oxidatively converting H2S into sulphur. Said catalyst consists of an activated carbon substrate incorporating a catalytic phase selected from the oxide salt or sulphide compounds of one or more transition metals selected from V Mo, W, Ni and Co. The amount of said catalytic phase by weight of transition metal, represents 0.1-15 wt % of the calcined catalyst.

Why it's free to use
- Filed March 16, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 16, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 16, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
