Abstract From the Canadian patent

A system for and method of enhancing image/video signals to be decoded is disclosed. The system for and method of post-filtering uses preferably, a, temporal filter (e.g. 110) and a spatial filter (e.g. 112) both of which , are adaptive, but neither is required to be adaptive. However the system for and method of , post-filtering may also be used with only an adaptive spatial post-filter. In this case the, performance is upper-bounded by the performance of systems using both the adaptive temporal and adaptive spatial post-filter.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 31, 1994 and granted December 14, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 31, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 31, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
