The invention provides a process for the purification of an aqueous solution containing metal ions and which contains divalent manganese cations as an impurity. The process comprises, at a hydrogen ion concentration in the solution of 1 x 10-7- 2 moles/?, oxidizing the divalent manganese (Mn2+) cations to Mn4+ cations to precipitate MnO2 from the solution. The oxidising of the MnO2 cations is catalyzed by carrying out the oxidation in the presence of catalytically active manganese dioxide.

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 28, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 28, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 28, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
