Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention relates to nonlinear optical material comprising nonlinear optical dihydroxy arylhydrazones and to nonlinear optical materials comprising compositions containing at least one divalent moiety of nonlinear optical arylhydrazones. The present invention also relates to polyesters polyestercarbonates, polycarbonates, polyethers and poly(hydroxy ether) polymers, incorporating the dihydroxy arylhydrazone as recurring divalent moeities in the backbone of the polymer. The polymeric compositions of the present invention have high glass transition temperatures and exhibit stable nonlinear optical activity at high temperatures over a period of time.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 10, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 10, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 10, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
