Abstract From the Canadian patent

The present invention provides a means of erasing the magnetic hysteresis with respect to a rare-earth iron garnet single-crystal film with large magnetic hysteresis which is an obstacle in using as a Faraday rotator although the film has extremely small saturated magnetic field intensity. In the present invention a permanent magnet is posi-, tioned on a part of a rare-earth iron garnet single crystal. According to the present invention the magnetic hystere-, sis can be erased with respect to a rare-earth iron garnet single-crystal film with large magnetic hysteresis which is an obstacle in using as a Faraday rotator although the film has extremely small saturated magnetic field intensity. …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 30, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended August 30, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 30, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
