Abstract From the Canadian patent

An integrated optical waveguide circuit includes a substrate; an optical wavelength multiplexer and an optical power splitter formed on a same surface of the substrate. The optical wavelength multiplexer is composed of a first slab optical waveguide, a second slab optical waveguide, a single or a plurality of input optical waveguides connected to the first slab optical waveguide at one end of the first slab optical waveguide a, plurality of arrayed optical waveguides arranged in parallel and having different lengths and connected to the first slab optical waveguide and the second slab optical waveguide, and a plurality of output optical waveguides arranged in parallel and connected to the …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 2, 1994 and granted December 29, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 2, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 2, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
