Disclosed is a process for the electrolysis of an aqueous potassium chloride solution, in which the sulphate ions are removed from the solution by precipitation as potassium sulphate and/or as potassium sulphate-containing salt mixture and/or as potassium sulphate-containing compound. The precipitation is achieved by increasing the hydroxide ion and/or carbonate ion concentration in the potassium chloride brine for, example by addition of potassium hydroxide and/or potassium carbonate. The sulphate ions are preferably precipitated from the depleted brine at temperatures higher than the saturation temperature of potassium chloride. Why it's free to use
- Filed August 2, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended August 2, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 2, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
