Abstract From the Canadian patent

A mixing valve for a faucet has a ball valve (16) mounted for pivotable motion about a longitudinal axis (76) and a second perpendicular axis (86) that is fixed with respect to the pin (84) that extends through the spherical section (42) of the ball valve (16). Why it's free to use

  • Filed September 22, 1992 and granted July 14, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 22, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 22, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
