Abstract From the Canadian patent

A hybrid structural material (10) combines high thermal conductivity and predetermined mechanical properties compatible with adjacent materials. It has three elements: (1) a non-structural high , thermal conductivity core material (20) which defines the thermal conductivity of the hybrid structural material; (2) a pair of face sheets (30, 40), which form opposing surfaces of the hybrid structural material and help to define its mechanical properties disposed on opposite sides of the core material to create a face sheet-core material-face sheet sandwich construction; and (3) a frame (50) substantially surrounding the core material and bonded to the face sheets for helping to define (along …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 14, 1992 and granted September 16, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 14, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 14, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
