A mechanism for binding nails includes a cutter for cutting rubber tube into rubber bands. A sleeve has a number of blades coupled to one end. A hook is disposed below the cutter for hooking the rubber band and for moving the rubber band to the blades. A rod is slidably engaged in the sleeve for expanding the blades and the rubber band. Why it's free to use

  • Filed July 15, 1994 and granted July 21, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended July 15, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 15, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
