Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method and apparatus for cooling the heat generated by a gas turbine engine mounted in a compartment is provided. The apparatus comprises a novel eductor (60) that incorporates a mixer nozzle (70) to entrain sufficient air flow through the compartment to provide all the necessary cooling. The engine's oil cooler (62) is mounted to the eductor so that the entrained air flow passes through it and cools the engine's oil. The novel eductor also has means for receiving a flow of high velocity air (68) from the engine and injecting this air downstream of the mixer nozzle to enhance the entraining of the cooling flow.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 9, 1993 and granted November 5, 2002. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended February 9, 2013.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 9, 2015.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
