A method for determining whether a particular sample vial has bacterial growth includes the steps of introducing a first light into the sample vial and, measuring the intensity of the reemerging light. One then introduces a second light which is different from the first light and has either a different wavelength, or is introduced at a different location than the first light. The reemerging intensity from the second light is also measured. A ratio quantity is calculated, based on the two reemerging intensities and the calculated ratio is compared, to expected ratios for both positive and negative samples. Why it's free to use
- Filed June 30, 1994 and granted November 21, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 30, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 30, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
