Abstract of the Disclosure A base station (20, 21, 22) of a cellular communications system is provided having a serial interface (40) for direct connection over a time divided serial bus (23) to a base station controller (30). Traffic data is received from the base station controller through the serial interface. A channel coder (31) codes the traffic data and selectively outputs it onto the serial bus for retrieval by another base station. The base station alternatively transmits the coded data as a radio signal depending upon a, hopping sequence.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 28, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 28, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 28, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
