Abstract From the Canadian patent

A dual-rate surface effect damper(10) with extended useful life. The dual-rate is pro-, vided by two cylindrical liners (30 32, 34, 36) which have different inner diameters which en-, gage a damping piston (12) having protrusions (14) which have an interference fit with the, liner (30, 34). features which extended life include heat dissipative elements such us internal, and external fans (24); a convective MoS2 dispersed in a Teflon (B)filled , flurosilicone. Maintaining the temperature of the elastomer (32 34, 36) below about 200 , ° F (93.3 °C) is critical to avoiding thermal breakdown. In addition the elastomer (32, 34, 36) and metal-, lic surfaces (14) can undergo a surface …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 16, 1992 and granted October 2, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 16, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 16, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
