Abstract From the Canadian patent

A composite cast caliper in which the body of the caliper is cast with an additional component embedded therein. The embedded or intra-cast component can be either a reinforcing structure to strengthen and prevent deflection of the caliper body or it can be a tube providing a coolant passage within the caliper. The coolant passage tube is connected to a source of coolant fluid for circulation through the caliper to remove heat therefrom. The embedded component is positioned within the casting mold by the use of a plurality of locating wires. -12-

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 10, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 10, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 10, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
