Tactile control for automated bucket loading is achieved through the use of sensor feedback provided by pressure and extension sensors on hydraulic cylinder(s) to control the trajectory of the bucket to be loaded by a computer algorithm. Additional sensors can be used to provide further control of the loading cycle and of the vehicle operation. The invention can be integrated with existing machinery or used on new loaders such as LHDs, equipped with a suitable control interface capable of taking computerized control of the vehicle's actions.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 7, 1994 and granted April 20, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended June 7, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 7, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
