Abstract From the Canadian patent

A unitary disposable absorbent article (20) such as a catamenial pad or incontinent pad is provided with an elasticized side flap (30) by operatively associating an elastic member (32) on both the upper surface and the lower surface of the side flap (30). The elastic member is preferably joined to the inner surface (48) of the side flap as well as the outer surface (46) of the side flap by folding it about the distal edge (50) of the side flap. In a preferred embodiment the elastic member (32) comprises an elastomeric laminate of an elastomeric layer (42) and a coverstock layer (44) with the coverstock layer (44) being on the outside (46) of the product, so that the sanitary napkin is …
