A reference range of tightening torques is predetermined relative to the rotation angle of a threaded member as tightened up normally. In tightening up a nut on an externally threaded member the, tightening torque is detected by a torque sensor every time the nut is rotated through a specified angle, and whether the tightening torque relative to the rotation angle is within the reference range is judged by a microcomputer. The result of judgment is indicated by a light-emitting diode and a buzzer.

Why it's free to use
- Filed June 3, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 3, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 3, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
