Abstract From the Canadian patent

Quadrature FM Demodulator Apparatus, Abstract A quadrature FM detector apparatus for demodulating an FM signal so as to produce a baseband audio signal. The quadrature FM detector apparatus utilizes a delay circuit, which may comprise a filter or even a digital shift register, for delaying the FM signal by one-quarter of its frequency. The delayed FM signal is then mixed with the original signal to obtain a baseband audio signal.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed June 1, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended June 1, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by June 1, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
