Abstract From the Canadian patent

Fibers are added to a gelation solution and the mixture is pumped to a subterranean injection site where it gets in place. The gelation solution is preferably comprised of partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide polymer and a crosslinking agent while the, fibers are those which do not interfere with the gelation process and can provide adequate reinforcement while not adversely affecting the ability of the solution to be pumped and injected. Glass fibers and cellulosic fibers are specifically disclosed as preferable reinforcing fibers.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 18, 1992 and granted August 4, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 18, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 18, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
