Open the CIPO recordAbstract From the Canadian patent
A method of interfacing between a noncontinuous stream of cells of data and a continuous stream of frames of data, which includes transforming an incoming non-continuous cell stream into a continuous transmitted stream by inserting idle or non-assigned cells into the data stream during idle periods. The cells in the continuous stream are then mapped sequentially and contiguously onto the payload portions of frames. The frames are then transmitted synchronously.

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 30, 1994 and granted October 6, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 30, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 30, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
