A stabilized aqueous dentifrice composition capable of producing or in the presence of saliva, leading to the production of antimicrobial effective concentrations of hypothiocyanite ions (OSCN-) are herein described. The composition contains both an oxidoreductase enzyme and its specific substrate for the purpose of producing hydrogen peroxide of at least the minimum effective concentration. The aqueous dentifrice compositions of the present invention can be stabilized against premature enzyme/substrate interaction by controlling the level of dissolved oxygen in the aqueous dentifrice carrier. Why it's free to use
- Filed November 25, 1992 and granted November 17, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 25, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 25, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
