Abstract From the Canadian patent

In a cushioning device of a press having a pneumatic cylinder for producing a blank-holding force to be applied to a blank through a cushion platen arid a pressure ring an optimum initial value of the pneumatic pressure of the pneumatic cylinder when the cushion platen is placed at a setup position lower than the lower stroke end is calculated based on die-set information relating to the pressure ring and including a predetermined optimum value of the blank-holding force and machine information relating to the cushioning device so that the calculated optimum initial pneumatic pressure provides the optimum blank-holding force during a pressing operation irrespective of a volumetric increase …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed May 24, 1994 and granted November 23, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 24, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 24, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
