Abstract From the Canadian patent

Methods are described for the isolation and characterization of DNA sequences from Aspergillus niger var. awamori, which are involved in the expression and secretion of endoxylanase II (ex1A) by said Aspergillus mould. A process using these expression and/or secretion regulating regions to direct the production and optionally the secretion of proteins other than endoxylanase II by transformed moulds is provided.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed December 9, 1992 and granted May 20, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended December 9, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by December 9, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
