The present invention provides a method and compositions useful for inhibiting corrosion of a corrodible metal resulting from contact of water and air with the metal. In this method a stannous, salt and a hydrocarbyl substituted succinimide of a polyethylene polyamine are added to the water in minor amounts and cooperatively reduce corrosion of the metal to a substantially zero rate. While the amount of each agent for an effective inhibition is minor say in the range of from about 0.1 to 100 ppm a relatively, concentrated solution is required for addition to the water. Suitable solvent media include the lower alkanols and mixture thereof with or without added water. Isopropanol is …

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 5, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended November 5, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 5, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
