A coated article and method of producing it are disclosed wherein the iridescence caused by the difference between the refractive index of a transparent substrate and the refractive index of a metal oxide coating is reduced by means of two intermediate layers the first of which, closest to the substrate has a refractive index higher than the refractive index of the substrate but lower than the refractive index of the second and the second has a refractive index higher than the refractive index of the first but lower than the retractive index of the metal oxide coating. The thicknesses of the two intermediate layers for optimizing a neutral appearance are determined by the thickness and …

Why it's free to use
- Filed May 3, 1994 and granted February 13, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended May 3, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by May 3, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
