Abstract From the Canadian patent

A gauge for indicating the setting and linear stroke movement of a brake rod of a brake assembly. Reference indicators are provided on both the brake-rod's yoke or clevis and on the brake's slack adjuster member; and the indicators cooperate, by their relative movement showing brake rod travel and adjustment as a visual indication by the relative movement by the reference indicator of the linearly-moving clevis with respect to the angular rotation of the reference indicator on the rotating slack adjuster arm.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 21, 1994 and granted March 21, 2000. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 21, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 21, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
