Abstract From the Canadian patent

Improved automatic gain control (18) for an amplifier (10) is obtained by controlling the size of a zone in a drive signal (26) for the amplifier (10). The size of the zone is controlled by estimating strength of an interference signal and , dynamically varying the size of the zone based on the estimated strength of the interference signal. As a result the amplifier (10), rarely saturates, regardless of signal strength. The invention is useful to reduce the harmful effects of jamming or interference.

Why it's free to use

  • Filed October 29, 1992 and granted August 31, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended October 29, 2012.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 29, 2014.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
