The coating composition comprises an emulsion having water as the continuous phase and as the, discontinuous phase, droplets of a nonvolatile organic water repellent composition, the emulsion containg an emulsion stabilizing amount of a hydrophobically modified polyacrylic acid polymer wherein the viscosity of the emulsion is less than about 100 Cps and the particle size of the droplets is less than about 50 microns. The relatively low viscosity and small particle size provides for easy application and excellent penetration into porous substrates. The process of making the compositions …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed April 13, 1994 and granted September 30, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 13, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 13, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
