Mixtures of fatty acid esters of low monovalent alcohols for instance ethanol and methanol, are fractionated by extractive crystallization using urea. The starting material has a given solidification point, a first fraction is obtained with a relatively lower and a second fraction is obtained with a relatively higher solidification point than the given solidification point of the starting material. A fatty acid ester mixture is reacted with an aqueous urea solution by intensive mixing. The solid urea adduct thus obtained is mechanically separated out leaving a mixture of, two liquid phases. An oily phase (fraction F1) with the fatty acid esters having the relatively lower solidification …

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 5, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended April 5, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 5, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
