Abstract From the Canadian patent

A biocompatible monomer composition contains (A) at least one monomer of the formula:, CHR=CXY wherein X and Y are each strong electron withdrawing groups, and R is H or, provided that X and Y are both cyano groups, a C1-C4 alkyl group; and (B) an effective amount of at least one biocompatible agent effective to reduce active formaldehyde concentration levels preferably a formaldehyde scavenger compound. The monomer is preferably an alpha-cyanoacrylate. The formaldehyde scavenger compound may be in microencapsulated or nonmicroencapsulated form. The composition can be applied to a variety of materials and is particularly suitable as in vivo tissue adhesive. A method of joining together n …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed March 30, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended March 30, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 30, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
