There are disclosed novel compounds of formula (I) wherein X is -CH2-, -CHF-, -CF2, -CHOH- or -C(O)-; R6 is hydrogen, benzyl, pentafluorophenyl, nitrophenyl 1-benzotriazolyl or 1-succinimidoyl; Fmoc is 9-fluorenylmethyloxycarbonyl; and * indicates a chiral carbon atom. The Formula (I) compounds are useful in synthesizing peptides. There are also disclosed novel synthesis methods which include the step of hydrogenating a compound of formula (III) wherein R4 and R5 are C1-8 lower alkyl, to give a compound of formula (II) wherein R4 and R5 are as defined above. The compounds of formula (II) are useful as intermediates in preparing certain formula (I) compounds.

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 30, 1992 and granted April 8, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 30, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 30, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
