An improved holder for electrically heated curling irons provides numerous safety features over earlier curling iron holders. The curling iron retainer portion is of a generally frustoconical or tapered cylinder shape and has an open upper end for the insertion of a curling iron therein and a substantially closed lower end in order to prevent inadvertent contact with the heating element of the iron. The lower end of the retainer portion may also include a drain and ventilation passage which provides, for air flow through the curling iron retainer portion to promote more rapid cooling of a heated iron after use.
