2118903 9306265 PCTABScor01, A method for making strong discrete fibers by flash spinning a polymer solution through a spinneret. A gaseous fluid is injected in parallel into the core of the polymer solution prior to passage through the spinneret. The high shear forces the gaseous fluid exerts on the polymer solution cause highly oriented strong, discrete fibers to be produced upon flashing through the spinneret rather than continuous fibers.

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 9, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended September 9, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 9, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
