A wellbore tool is provided to perform work in a wellbore by converting a chemical pressure source into a force exerted over a distance. The wellbore tool includes a pressure chamber (106) sealed by a firing head (108) and containing a power charge (102) which includes a plurality of chemical components which are burned in a combustion reaction to generate gas. The combustion reaction of the power charge is initiated by a resistance heater (104) which directly initiates the combustion reaction by receiving electrical energy and generating heat. The combustion reaction generates gas within the pressure chamber (106), the gas having a pressure which pushes a pressure responsive member (18) …

Why it's free to use
- Filed October 15, 1993. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended October 15, 2013.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by October 15, 2015.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
