A system for using nuclear magnetic resonance techniques to obtain information relating to geologic structures. The system employs a variable sample window (W1, W2 W3) which increases sampling , efficiency by allowing the system to optimize the sampling interval, thereby maximizing the amount of data which can be obtained in a series of data samples.

Why it's free to use
- Filed November 25, 1992 and granted April 22, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended November 25, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by November 25, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
