The present invention involves structurally changing an American Association of Railroads (AAR) standard 100 ton sideframe so that it is statically and dynamically capable of handling a 110 ton payload; this is accomplished by reducing two weak points on the sideframe. The first weak point is located in the sideframe upper compression member near the vertical support column, and the second weak point is the upper portion of the area comprising the lower diagonal tension member core support hole. Why it's free to use
- Filed March 3, 1994 and granted February 25, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended March 3, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by March 3, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
