A dual wavelength optical sensor for measuring the optical characteristics of sensing films which are responsive to a particular quantity to be measured. The optical sensor includes a light source for producing light outputs at two distinct wavelengths and transmitting twin components of light to first and second outputs. A time-shared optical fiber receives the two distinct wavelengths of light from the first output and carries the light on a time-shared basis to a sensor probe. A sample detector receives the two distinct wavelengths of light transmitted from the thin sensing film. A reference detector receives the two distinct wavelengths of light from the second output and monitors the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed September 17, 1992 and granted July 22, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended September 17, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by September 17, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
