A method of separating oleophilic-hydrophobic material from wash water is disclosed. The method comprises the steps of mixing with the wash water, either alone or in combination about 30-2100 ppm , of a surfactant having formula (I) where n is, 6-20; and about 1-200 ppm of an enzyme selected from the group consisting of proteases, amylases, lipases, cellulases pectinases, and mixtures thereof. The mixture of wash water surfactant and/or enzyme is then permitted to stand for a time sufficient for the oleophilic-hydrophobic material to separate.

Why it's free to use
- Filed August 31, 1992 and granted January 16, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 31, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 31, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
