Abstract From the Canadian patent

A method and an improved eductor apparatus for producing ultrafine particles is disclosed. The exclusive particles which when incorporated into a binder system have the ability to propagate in thin sheets and have very low impact sensitivity, and very high propagation sensitivity. A stream of a solution of the explosive dissolved in a solvent is thoroughly mixed with a stream of an inert nonsolvent so as to obtain nonlaminar flow of the streams by applying pressure against the flow of the nonsolvent stream, to thereby diverge the stream as it contacts the explosive solution and violently agitating the combined stream to rapidly precipitate the explosive particles from the solution in the …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed August 27, 1991 and granted November 17, 1998. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended August 27, 2011.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by August 27, 2013.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
