Abstract From the Canadian patent

Abstract of the Disclosure A method, composition and test device for determining the ionic strength or specific gravity of a test sample are disclosed. The method utilizes a test device comprising a test pad, wherein the test pad includes a carrier matrix incorporating a reagent composition capable of producing a detectable and measurable response that correlates to the ionic strength; and therefore the specific gravity of the, test sample. The reagent composition comprising a, strong polyelectrolyte, a metachromatic indicator dye and a suitable carrier, is incorporated into a carrier matrix to provide a test pad of a device useful in an ionic strength assay or a semiquantitative specific …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed February 9, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 9, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 9, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
