Abstract From the Canadian patent

It is not unusual to struggle with a garbage bag in order to maintain the mouth of the bag in an open position while filling the bag. A device to maintain the mouth of the bag in an open position while holding the bag upright is described herein and comprises an elongate upright post insertable into the ground at one end. A rigid horizontally disposed ring pivotably attached to the other end of the upright post serves to maintain the mouth of the bag open by draping the lip of the bag over the ring and securing the lip over one or more snagging pins located upon the outer surface of the ring.
