A method for dyeing an optical component such as a lens or filter. A coating of dyeing solution is formed on a surface of a lens and the lens is subjected to a nonuniform heating treatment in dependence on the position within the surface to obtain the desired color density gradient of the lens. In accordance with the positions within such surface a nonuniform integrated heating amount distribution provides the desired color density gradient with excellent reproducibility.

Why it's free to use
- Filed February 4, 1994. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended February 4, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by February 4, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
