assessment, From time-to-time, the telephone outside loop plant is severely damaged as a result of some catastrophe, such as a hurricane. To facilitate the repair and identification of such damage, a facility is provided which rapidly assesses andoutputs to a terminal the extent of such damage. The rapid assessment is made possible by taking advantage of information that may be obtained from a number of different sources, in which the extent of the damage may be determined from suchinformation.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 25, 1994 and granted December 2, 1997. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 25, 2014.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 25, 2016.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
