An error control arrangement for an optical fiber rotation sensor having electromagnetic waves propagating in opposite directions passing through a bias optical phase modulator (19) operated by a phase modulation generator (20) both of which can contribute second harmonic distortion resulting in errors in the sensor output signal which are controlled. Control of the bias optical phase modulator (19) contribution for a modulator having a piezoelectric body (30) wrapped with an optical fiber portion (40) is accomplished by mounting the body between layers (33 35) having , nonlinear stiffness.

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 15, 1993 and granted November 20, 2001. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 15, 2013.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 15, 2015.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
