Abstract From the Canadian patent

A vehicle wheel speed sensor incorporated on an axle spindle (10) hub (18) and hub cap (22) assembly of the type using permanent magnets (56) to generate a magnetic field having a magnetic path (57) conducted through a plurality of teeth (32) on a flange {19) extending from the hub cap (22) into a, plurality of teeth (37) on a stator (36) with relative motion therebetween upon, rotation of the wheel where the frequency of the change in the magnetic reluctance varies at a frequency proportional to the wheel speed. The stator (36) is mounted to the end of the axle spindle (10) by a securing bolt (52) so that the stator (36) can be easily removed for service without disturbing the axle, …

Why it's free to use

  • Filed January 24, 1994 and granted October 12, 1999. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 24, 2014.
  • A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 24, 2016.
  • We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
