Recombinant human interleukin-6 having a homogeneous N-terminus, comprising peptide molecular species whose Nterminal is Val and having sugar chains; and a process for production of recombinant interleukin-6 characterized by culturing animal cells transformed with a DNA coding for a fusion protein comprising human interleukin-6 whose N-terminus is Val and a signal peptide other than the native signal peptide of human interleukin-6, and recovering the interleukin-6 from the resulting culture. According to the present invention homogeneous, recombinant human IL-6 having Val at the N-terminus and modified with sugar chains is provided.

Why it's free to use
- Filed July 6, 1992. No grant is recorded for it in Canada; had it been granted, its 20-year term would have ended July 6, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by July 6, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
