To determine glucose or other constituents of the human or animal body a , stabilized near-infrared radiation beam (D) containing two alternating wavelengths that have approximately equal extinction coefficients in the tissue, is directed onto the sample area (18), the transmitted signal (E) alternating component is zeroed by tuning one of the wavelengths, the extracellularto-intracellular fluid ratio of the tissue is changed by exerting varying mechanical pressure on the tissue, oe the ratio is allowed to change as a result of the natural pulsation. The alternating component of the transmitted beam power is measured in the changed fluid ratio state. The amplitude of the …

Why it's free to use
- Filed January 29, 1992 and granted March 25, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended January 29, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by January 29, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
