An apparatus for optically, detecting light-absorbing contamination in at least one particle of, low optical-loss material comprises an optical integrating chamber for, containing the particles. A laser for emitting a laser beam to illuminate, the particles is mounted in the plane of rotation of a rotating mir-, ror such that the laser beam scans in a fan scan. A scanning assembly, is mounted in optical alignment with the laser for reflecting the la-, ser beam and for causing the laser beam to scan the particles in the, optical integrating chamber. A focusing assembly is mounted in opti-, cal alignment with the laser For focusing the scanning laser beam on-, to the particles in the chamber …

Why it's free to use
- Filed April 29, 1992 and granted September 23, 2003. A Canadian patent filed from October 1, 1989 lasts 20 years from filing, so its term ended April 29, 2012.
- A certificate of supplementary protection adds at most two years for a drug, so even that would have ended by April 29, 2014.
- We check Canadian rights only. A patent in its family in another country could still be in force: check its family on Google Patents.
